Once again I have neglected my journal and it has been over eight mounths since I last wrote. I know, bad me. But if you ask any other university student you will know that we get swept up in our work. Yes I have also been neglecting my artwork, both drawings and photographs. It would just seem I either do not have the time, or the muses do not strike me at the moment. Oh believe me I want to work on stuff, but it just doesnt want to come out right.
So shall we re-cap the last eight months?
Well, not long after my last journal entry I ended the longest relationship I have ever had with my boyfriend. It had lasted nine months practically to the day when I realized that I was no longer in love with him. So to bare him from any undue suffering I ended it in one day. I have never looked back on my decision. I told him at the beginning of our relationship: I am like a faerie wind, their dancing merely one moment, then leaving you cold and alone the next., and truly that is how my relationship felt. So once again I am single, but unlike the times before this I am not pining for the feel of someone else to fill the empty space in my life. I feel free, like the faerie wind. That is not to say that if someone crosses my path I will ignore my feelings, but instead that I am enjoying my single life like I hadnt in the past.
Over my Thanksgiving holiday, my friend Delaney and I went on a trip to Massachusetts to ride the roller coasters at the Six Flags Theme Park in New England. We had a great time and plan on going once again this year with a few of our friends who share our coaster freak enthusiasm. Unfortunately when we went, the tallest coaster in the park: Superman: the ride, was closed for the rest of the season. I have to say I was quiet bummed out because of it. But we hope to remedy that this year, as well as try out the brand new coaster: The Dark Knight. Its the new Batman coater, based on the up and coming movie. The last time I was in New England we were as I stated there during the month of October. October in Montreal; often enough is cold, sweater weather. So here I figure it will be much of the same in New England. And as luck would have it, the one day where I bring a sweater with me, it has to be like 25°C (77°F). I was boiling, and Im pretty sure I became dehydrated and had a bit of heat stroke. I do not do well in hot weather. My body just starts to shut down, and thats exactly what happened. Eventually, after about half an hour sitting in the shade, and about half a gallon of cold water later I was back up and riding the coasters.
We visited Salem while we were in the area as well. Its a very quaint little town, considering what history it holds. I saw very little of it since we only visited on the way back home. I do plan on staying in Salem this time due to the fact that there is so much to see.
Also on the trip I got Delaney hooked on Olive Garden food. We had three major meals on our trip, and all three were at Oliver Garden. Needless to say now she is constantly asking me to go with he across the boared to get food with her.
My Halloween was once again spent in the company of my friends as the threw an amazing Halloween Party. I went dressed as Rogue from the Marvel comic X-Men, and though I didnt enter in the costume contest, much to the chagrin of my friends, I received praise for my costume. Christine was disappointed that I did not enter. Had you entered there would have been a no contest. It would have been easier on me as the judge. I dont have any good pictures of my costume, but I will be getting my hair redone closer to my birthday so I will take some photos of it then. The only shots from the party I have are headshots so you dont really get to see the costume.
I also had what I would call a completely spontaneous weekend at one point. Okay so here was the magic word of the day people SPONTANEITY! Thats right, be spontaneous people. I was that weekend and look where it got me.
Friday was my mothers 47th birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! After that I just relaxed after a nice birthday dinner out at Moes and got to sleep in the next morning.
This brings us to Saturday. Woke up around 10:30 am and met up with Delany for a day at LaRonde, something planned yes but what fallowed was not. After going on one ride we got rained out of the park. I mean lots of rain, soaked pretty much through and through. So we quit the park and drive to the other end of the island to: A) dry off, and B) get some food at CHEETERS in St. Anne-de-Belleview. Fondue is the best stuff in the world when you are half wet and want to warm up. After a quick stop off at my place for a change of clothes and my bus pass we head of to the Palais de Congres for the Montreal Comic Book Convention which I had hear about during the week in hopes to find a volume of the series that I am reading. Didnt find it but did come across something that I had read about. The Magdalena is the title of the comic, and it is really good. After that we headed to Chapter so I could scope out my books and picked up another graphic novel: Fallen Angel. Also very good, I just finished the books up to date. We then hoped over to the Paramount and had a drink while waiting to go and see the movie Stardust. It was hilarious, the image of Daniro in a dress is priceless. To end a wonderful day I went home and had a nice night sleep.
Unfortunately I woke up to a day of hell at work when five people didnt come in and having to deal with insubordinate underlings. After the day from hell I met up with Delaney and Nat at Santropol: a bohemian café on the Plateau, and had dinner and coffee and desert. Leaving there we decided to take a trip up to the lookout to get a view of the island. Saw a whole heard of Racoons, very cute as they scurried about scrounging for food. We got a pretty good view of the east and south ends of the island. Was able to see the Olympic Stadium as well as other landmarks. But not the Casino. So after me making the point that I had never been to the casino we piled into our cars and drove out to meet Lady Luck. Got lost around Jean-Drapeau but we made it in the end. Its very bright and inviting and I understand what makes them so appealing. Found parking, got a drink, explored and sat down with ten dollars at a slot machine to try my had. Lady Luck I was indeed. Made back my base ten as well as about five dollars in winnings. Not to press my luck further we cashed out on a high note and left the building in good spirits and headed for home. With fair winds and no traffic I made it home before my coach turned into a pumpkin.
So yeah that was a weekend well spent I must say. And one that should be repeated in the future.
Before my trip to Boston I did the unbelievable. Yes thats right, I quit my job at Toys R Us. After five and a half years I am finally free of that place. Was I sad to go? HELL NO! Management was no longer what it had been and I was one of the last from those who had started with me to leave. So now you might ask were I am now? Were practically all former employees of Toys R Us, Pointe Clare go down the street to Best Buy, Pointe Claire. HAHAHA! Well on the plus side, I knew half the people right off the bat; including the manager. I also got a well-disserved pay increase starting at ten dollars an hour. After five and a half years at TRU I was still only making 9.60$ an hour.
Christmas was spent with my family just like every other year.
I did have the best New Years Eve I had ever had this year though. Now I know your thinking I must have gone to some wild and crazy party but your wrong. I did start by going over to my friends house for her New Years party, but found that I was not enjoying my self so made up an excuse to leave. (Sorry Courtney) I then went down town and spent the next two hours sitting in the Second Cup on the corner of Guy and St. Catherine having a coffee and reading a book. Not the most amazing thing to happen but whatever. I made it back home in time to fire up World of Warcraft (yes I am mildly addicted to WoW) and watch the New Years Eve fireworks festival.
Since then I have been studying and doing my schoolwork, and finding that I am nearing the end of my rope. I have been in school for roughly about nineteen years counting pre-school and kindergarten and I dont know if I will go for my Masters of not. I want to and know I should, but one I dont know if Ill have high enough grades and two I dont know if I could last that long. I am growing tired of school. But I will get my BA, that is for sure. So I guess it will be a while before that happens, then well see about the Masters.
God, now if I could only harness this amount of energy and put it into my work my DevientART gallery would be massive.
Well its late and I have class and work on the morrow, so good night. And till next time whenever that will be.
Later
Samantha
